The Domaine Ballot-Millot Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2018 is a powerful and elegant white Burgundy, celebrated for its intense minerality, concentration, and potential to age. The wine perfectly balances richness with a zesty freshness, reflecting why the "Perrières" vineyard is often considered an unofficial Grand Cru.
Vineyard: The "Les Perrières" site is known for its very stony, limestone-rich soils, which impart a distinct saline and crushed stone minerality to the wine.
Vinification: The winemaking at Domaine Ballot-Millot focuses on purity and balance, with the wine aged in oak barrels to develop complexity.
Nose: A pretty and complex bouquet of yellow plum, orange pith, crushed stone, honey, and delicate floral notes.
Palate: The palate is full yet taut, with a fine, persistent bead of acidity. It exhibits flavors of lime and orange zest, ripe orchard fruits like apple and pear, and a notable saline character on the long finish. It is described as having great energy and power, gaining complexity with air.
The 2018 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a very pretty bouquet with vivacious yellow plum, orange pith and crushed stone aromas that gain complexity in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity that keeps this on its toes. Hints of lime and orange zest combine with wonderful salinity on the finish that feels very persistent. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. (Vinous)
