Au Bas de Poillange" is situated at the foot of the Montagne de Marsain between two small rivers. The name derives from the old French word Pol, meaning swamp or pond, reflecting the area's historically damp conditions.
Terroir: The vineyard features steep slopes with thin clay, red limestone, iron, and white marl subsoils. It is among the last plots to be harvested in the region due to its high altitude.
Vine Age: The vines were originally planted in 1986 by Pauline’s grandfather.
Viticulture: The estate is currently being transitioned to organic viticulture.
Production: Extremely limited, with a total production of approximately 2,000 bottles per year.
Aging: The wine is aged in oak barrels, typically with about 20% new oak.
- Nose: A fresh and racy aromatic profile featuring lemon, green apple, spices, and minerals, with subtle buttery and caramel notes.
- Palate: Intense and juicy, the palate is ripe and creamy with lemony acidity and stone fruit flavors.
- Finish: Characterized by a long, citrus-infused, and succulent finish with a distinct mouthwatering salinity.
Often described as a "mini-Meursault" due to its richness and mineral depth.
Grape: Chardonnay
Region: Burgundy
